Back to School

It's August 1st, and I'm back to school. For the next two days I have to be in at 8:00 for training, and when the kids come back I begin at 7:30.

Despite being out late last night for another celebration (this time for our friend Meg), I got up at 5:45 to run this morning.
Pre-run pitch-darkness
Post-run: sweaty and sunny!
My trick? I barely slept from back-to-school anxiety. I woke up naturally at 5:30 and read some blogs, which helped get me motivated.

This is a nice way to start the month...but it's not going to last!
It was a rough run but I'm glad I went! It was definitely the right way to begin the school-year.

What time do you get up for work?
Tell me about your job!

  1. I wake up at 5:30...but to go to bodypump at the gym...I actually don't start work until 10am. For the past 14 years I have worked in the bridal industry

    1. I'll bet working in the bridal industry is a lot like working with kids! Planning my own wedding was stressful/crazy/fun enough!

  2. I sleep in as late as possible! Haha. I work in Miami but I live in Fort Lauderdale so my boss lets me come in at 10am so I can avoid the worst part of traffic. That means I don't get up until 8:35am (yes, those final 5 minutes are VERY important)! :)

    1. Lucky! I'm already teaching by the time you roll out of bed haha. I love sleeping in though; it's embarrassing how late I sleep in on weekends.

    Awesome job!!! :)
My job currently is working in retail and when school starts in September, I will resume subbing!
Crossing my fingers though that I don't go back as a sub :)
Good luck with getting your classroom ready and such!!!!

    1. Retail might be harder than teacher; you've got guts. Keep your chin up! I know you're going to find a teaching job any day now! Keep looking and applying!

    1. Yeah, I definitely fail at it more often than I succeed!

  5. I work in a hospital as an occupational therapist. I get to work around 7:45. I have tried working out in the morning but I end up being miserable for the rest of the day. I guess I am just not a morning person.

    1. I think the pheromones from running trick my brain into thinking I like getting up early for the sake of a run!

    1. The worst is waking up to no new blog posts! That makes it hard to get up. I meet my kiddos tomorrow...all 70 of them. We'll see how it goes!

  7. Great job, all those miles....you inspire me! I go back to school August 21, not looking forward to that day! I am teaching 5th grade this year. I get up around 5:30, too. This year we are going to school later, so hopefully I can get my running done before school. Have a wonderful school year!

    1. Did you switch grade levels this year? You must teach a little of every subject! That takes some talent, imo!

  8. First day of school jitters...can't wait until I get my teaching license and can empathize with you on this! Hope your first day back is awesome! Funny story-yesterday my Momma said hey Kelsey come look at this girl's blog! And it was yours! And I had to tell her that yes Mom I know her! Too funny.

    1. When do you get your license? The world is in dire need of more (and awesome/positive/motivational/etc) teachers!

I love that your mom found my blog and recommended it to you! Small world!

    1. I'm a little jealous of your year-round schedule right now. Getting back into the rhythm is tough! (And I have all these new names to memorize!)
