Summer Means...

...catching up on my reading.
My poor, dead Kindle! This was good timing to get an iPad Mini!
I'm currently reading Snow Crash, which is an older sci-fi dystopian novel my brother recommended.
I love my iPad case. Those little owls and lightning bolts SCREAM Harry Potter! haha
Summer means unpacking boxes.
I found a bunch of old stories and drawings I did when I was younger. Hilarious.
My favorite thing to find in storage? This gem from kindergarten:
So the fact that I can exercise is the most important thing about me? Okay then.
There was also a nice little "wishing star" picture under which the teacher had written for me: "I wish upon a star for...to be a pony!"

Summer means getting my training done.
I'll admit, I haven't figured out all the cool functions yet, but I do like being able to see my pace just by glancing down.
Summer means eating my weight in fruit.
I have been demolishing peaches and cherries lately. That single mango is Matt's...I'm not a big fan.
There is nothing better than a fridge full of fruits for healthy snacks.

Summer means catching up on TV.
I read the first book and found it frustrating and slow, so I didn't get into the show. But now that we're suitably behind, Matt and I have begun watching. We like to start late and be able to just watch a series all the way through without having to wait for new episodes!

Sadly, summer is almost over. I have three weeks left, which means it's time to start planning for next year. In other fun news, I'll be throwing out the first pitch at a Rays game next week. That's sure to be interesting! I had to buy a baseball so I can practice my throwing arm!

What are you reading right now?
What's the "most important thing" about you?
 What are you watching?
What does summer mean to you?

  1. I started reading Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down. It is about 4 people who want to kill themselves and show up at the top of the same building on NYE. So far, they haven't jumped yet, but I'm only 1/3 of the way through! Ps. I have that same Garmin!

    1. I love Nick Hornby! That sounds like an interesting read...I'll have to add it to my list!

  2. Fruit is one of the best things about summer! It's non-stop watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, peaches, blueberries... The list is non-stop. Good luck on Game of Thrones - it's my favorite show! It can be terribly slow, but the plot lines are so good it's worth it.

    1. It's funny hot despite the slowness of GoT, I still am totally wrapped up in it! I think that's why it works better as a show than a book series.

    2. I started reading the books after watching the show and found the books to be very, very good. It helped having watched the shows; putting names with faces helped a lot. But reading the details not present in the shows made me love the story even more!

  3. I've been trying to read the first Game of Thrones book for a couple of weeks now and haven't even made it to page 100. I am finding it frustratingly slow too. How are you liking the show? Should I just abandon the book and watch? It somehow feels like it would be so wrong to do that! :)

The wishing star story is too cute! Adam has a similar note where he wrote in 1st grade that when he grows up he wants to be a t-rex!!

    1. Honestly, I'd just skip to the show. The slow, intense build of the plot works WAY better as a show than a book, imo. But a friend of mine reads the books as she watches, and she says that's been really awesome. I don't know if I'll be giving the series another try.

LMAO @ Adam wanting to be a t-rex!! So cute!

    2. I am going to start watching the show this week! I think I'm also going to try reading that new series we tweeted about towards the end of this week. I hope it's good... I haven't read a truly great series in forever!

    3. I read the sample on Kindle this week. I like it...but I'm not sure I want to spend $13 for it. I may see if it's at the library!

  5. The best thing about me is that I can exercise too! ;-) I've been downing the cherries lately. It's like I can't get enough. I don't think my stomach appreciates that very much. I can't believe you are throwing the first pitch! How exciting and terrifying at the same time! Knowing me, I'd throw it backwards or something.

    1. I know my diet is totally unbalanced right now, but 90% of what I eat is fruit right now. That can't be bad for me, right?

OMG now I'm totally worried about throwing it backwards!!!

  6. We've finally jumped on the Breaking Bad train and are watching our way through; we're mid-season 2 right now. I too like just binge watching a show start to finish. Also? Totally with you on the summer fruit! I've been eating plums and apricots like crazy. Good luck with the pitch :)

    1. OMG we LOVED Breaking Bad. It's probably one of the only shows that, despite disliking 98% of the characters, I still loved. And the ending is really perfect!

  7. You're throwing the first pitch?? SO COOL! During the school year, between teaching and grad school, I never have time to read for me. I've been blazing through books this summer, and I love it!!!

    1. I'm the same way! It's so hard to read during the year, so in the summer I read as much as possible! I'm amazed my butt hasn't fused to the coach yet lol. I feel so lazy for it, but it brings me so much joy!

  8. Oh no! I have the same Kindle as you and I think mine is on the way to crashing like yours :( I guess that means I need to get an iPad right?

    1. Mine literally was fine one day and the next it wouldn't turn on. Amazon offered me some great deals for replacements but I think I'll just see how I like reading on the iPad for now. But yes, it's a great excuse to get an iPad lol.

  9. Love this post!
    1. I love the owl case - OMG! That is soooo adorable!
    2. I love catching up on my reading. Currently I am reading "Where She Went" the sequel to "If I Stay." I read "If I Stay" in one day - so good!
    3. I adore summer because of all the fruit. I freakin' love mangos! Yum :)
