New Friends & A Workout

When this posts, I'll already be on my way to Minnesota! Forgive my absence for the next four days!

This weekend is super packed. Before I even board the plane to head to Minnesota and the All Star Game, I had another trip to take. Months ago, Melanie (from the Sub30 Club) messaged me to let me know she would be vacationing in Florida in July. I made it a priority to see her, and no early morning flight was going to get in the way!

Our meetup was just two hours away and right in town where my sister goes to grad school, so I drove in early to spend Friday night with her. We did what we always do when it's just us - ate sweets.
Mixing like a pro. (I know that's a Bisquick box, but that's just storage. She's actually making cream cheese frosting.)
Gluten free Betty Crocker + Greek yogurt + sprinkles = homemade Funfetti cake!
I actually can pipe frosting but we didn't want to wait for the cake to cool, so we had a bit of a melt issue.

Saturday morning I met up with Kim for coffee before we headed to Melanie's hotel for lunch. It's always a treat to see old friends!
It was really awesome to meet Mel, Chris, and Christine. We all hit it off and got along from the start! I guess that's what happens when you're all runners...you know, runners in general are just awesome people!
Hanging out by the pool.
Subber-Selfie!
The group!
I had a delicious spinach salad and a bloody Mary. The whole meetup left me really excited for November because a bunch of Subbers are running the Space Coast and we're sure to meet up before!

After my two-hour drive home, I was in desperate need of some movement. I put together a deck-of-cards workout a la Meg and did it while watching some Will & Grace reruns. It was a great way to work up a quick sweat before packing for my trip!
30 minutes later I was feeling much better!
My flight is Sunday at 8:15am...My itinerary is jammed. I'm so excited and totally nervous for this adventure. And to answer the popular question, I don't know if I'll be on TV. I'm just going to enjoy it and soak it all in! And I'm going to try to get a run in while we're there to mark another state off my list. Not to mention that training next week calls for an easy run, mile repeats, and a 9-miler...so I need to fit that all in despite the travel and the full days.

Wish me luck!

Have you ever met online/blogger friends?
How do you bond with your siblings?
Have you done a deck-of-cards workout before?

  1. I have met up with a local blogger in my area, but none from out of state. On my bucket list!

    1. The playing card workout is easy and portable! You choose 4 exercises (a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic is my preference) and assign each to a suit in the deck. Then, you randomly choose cards and do as many of the exercises as the card tells you! I make Jack-Ace all 10. So if I choose a 3 of diamonds, I'd do 3 squats.

  2. Have a great time at the All Star game!!! That is so unbelievably cool by the way.

I've met Meg, as you probably know, at Boston! I was so super nervous she wouldn't like me...lol. She was so sweet and I LOVE her deck of cards workouts. :)

  7. I haven't had a homemade cake in FOREVER. That looks so, so, so good!

I have met 2 online blogger friends in person and really want to meet more! :D It's so fun because you don't have to go through all of the getting-to-know-you stuff that you do when you make a brand new friend since you already know so much about each other!

    1. ps. Anything done during Will of Grace = awesome!!!!! Remember when Jack was in the gay spelling bee and he had to spell the word "spramp" Use it in a sentence. "I like to SPRAMP my face with water."

    2. In T25, I'm not sure what they actually call them, but it's when you jump up from the burpee...you jump with your legs wider than shoulder-width. It works your hips and obliques!

LMAO Will & Grace is always good!!
