Today I woke up just knowing I would get my 15-miler in. It was just one of those wonderful doubt-free mornings. (I think getting the news that my foot wasn't fractured or badly injured really made me extra-excited to run today.)
I kept a nice even pace, and the first half of the run flew by. By mile 10 I was a little achy and in need of some distraction, but I never once though of cutting the run short.
Thank goodness for compression socks! |
I felt energized the entire way, and had no problems with breathing; my legs felt a little heavy toward the end of course, but I forced myself to pick up the pace in the last mile because I was so ready to be done!
Hurts so good? |
This feels muuuch better! (Just ignore that pile of running shoes in the corner...Also, remind me to never give a thumbs-up ever again.) |
Do you have any runs or races this weekend?
What was your farthest long run in training? In a race?
How do you recover after a run leaves you achy?

Great job on your long run!!!!!!! :D I am so happy for you! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteAwesome Job and great news on your foot!! You should be so proud of your new distance!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm definitely relieved about the foot, too!
DeleteGreat job on the run! And yay for bruises! I've heard ice baths are mental, and I hate them, so I never do them... but more so because I hate them!
ReplyDeleteI feel like it helped, but maybe that's because I have a bruised foot and ice is good for bruises?
DeleteYES!! Ice for bruises is the best. Did the doc say running was still cool?
DeleteAnna, I purposely didn't ask if running was okay so I could just feign ignorance. I haven't had pain so I ran on it, but I'm resting it until tomorrow so I'm not taking the painkillers every day.
DeleteI'm so glad it was just a bruise and nothing more serious. Congratulations on the awesome run :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm definitely relieved it's a minor injury.
DeleteI bet that tennis ball would help your hip too! I'm so glad that it's just a bruise and hope it goes away quickly :)
ReplyDeleteI tried rolling on the ball but I'm not sure how to do it. It was really awkward. I'll definitely keep trying...practice makes progress lol.
DeleteAwesome job on your run! Wow, what a relief it's just a bruise!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI've never run more than 20.5 miles in training, although sometimes I'm tempted to try...lol.
The longest run my plans calls for is 20, although I've heard 22 is usual, too. I tend to run the race distance pre-race just to make sure I can...but a 26.2 mile training run sounds rough lol!
DeleteI like to ice up whenever things feel sore even if it is mostly a mental thing. My running coach said it won't hurt so if it feels good, do it! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your super long run! 15 miles... I'm in awe!
For sure! Ice is good for injuries, so I figure it's gotta be a good preventative too.
DeleteDude...congrats on your latest long run!!! You kicked butt!!
