Halfway Done

As a teacher, it seems weird to me that June is "midyear" because, to me, December is "midyear." But 2013 is halfway gone, and checking in on my resolutions and goals for this year can't come at a better time. So here we go:
My current desktop background...always a good reminder.
1. Accomplished! I PR'd in March with a 28:39 AND ran with KS in one race! I've put the "a" goal aside for now because of other training stuff, and it's not really a top priority for me at this point in the year.

2. In Progress. I ran the NDN Half in January, and skipped the Hooters Half (I volunteered on the course instead). But as I'm training for a full, I think that kind of means I'm still working on this one, yes? Maybe I should edit it to say, "Run one more half, and either another half or a full!" I didn't beat 2:10 yet, but again...speed is kind of taking a backseat right now.

3. In Progress. As explained in my original post, I usually take the summer off from racing. I did miss my usual May race because May was just not a good month for me. I'd usually not race in June, July, or August, but as I'm running a race this tomorrow, I guess it will count for May!

4. On Track. My first 16 mile long run is scheduled for September 15.

5. Accomplished/In Progress. This is a year-long goal. So far I've definitely been meeting it. I've come a long way in focusing on myself as a runner and comparing myself to others a lot less. This has helped me feel so much happier and more in-tune with my goals. I feel mentally strong! The RW Run Streak helped me stay consistent, the marathon training will force me to focus on distance, and I've obviously been blogging.

I'm feeling pretty good about the year so far!

How are your yearly goals coming along?
Do you usually keep resolutions you set in January?
How have you edited or changed your goals as the year progressed?

    1. You should definitely write it...I didn't realize how on-track I was until I wrote it down!

  2. Usually I check on my goals in March and then by the time I get to midyear things have changed so much in my life that my goals as I wrote them seemingly no longer apply... and then I get to the end of the year and I see that in one form or another I met my goals (in spirit) after all!

    1. I'm a big believer in meeting the goals "in spirit". Sometimes I don't meet them perfectly, but I believe progress is just as good!

  3. Great list! I just completed #4 - run 18 miles. Hopefully, it will be cooler when you do yours! In your last post, you mentioned Scotland with some great photos! I had a lot of fun running there on vacation a couple of years ago.

    1. #4 is definitely the one giving me the most anxiety, but by the time I've built up to it I know I'll be ready. I'm so jealous you got to run in Scotland! I miss it there like crazy.

  4. I'm with you on December being halfway thru the year! I thought this post was going to be about your summer being halfway through... don't say that! Great job on goals!
